IEI PM-LX2: 800 vs 800W

Compare the IEI PM-LX2 standard and wide-temperature PC/104 ordering references. Use the practical guide to preserve exact identity, review replacement requirements and check a specific offered board. Availability is assessed separately.

PM-LX2-800 vs 800W: keep the exact variant

These are legacy PC/104 single-board computers with AMD Geode LX 800 processors. Start with the installed ordering code and application; an identical processor name does not approve a different board.

Standard temperature

PM-LX2-800-R10

0 to +60 °C

Use this exact reference when the installed label and application specify the standard variant. An 800W request must retain its wider temperature requirement until explicitly reviewed.

Review PM-LX2-800-R10

Wide temperature

PM-LX2-800W-R10

−40 to +70 °C

The W ordering code identifies the wide-temperature variant in the OEM ordering table. Preserve W and R10 when requesting photos, evidence and sourcing options.

End of Life: what it tells you

IEI marks the PM-LX2 family End of Life, effective 2022-09-02. The notice is a manufacturer lifecycle reference. It does not confirm that a seller has a board, that a listing is current, or that a replacement is suitable.

Shared reference points

AMD Geode LX 800 at 500 MHz; AMD CS5536 chipset; 200-pin DDR SDRAM SO-DIMM up to 1 GB; 5 V DC supply; Realtek RTL8100C 10/100 Mbps Ethernet. The PM-LX2 datasheet gives 96 × 90 mm board dimensions. Check the mechanical drawing and actual connector arrangement for the installed assembly.

Read the correct OEM section

The combined datasheet places PM-LX2 and PM-LX beside each other. PM-LX2 uses PC/104; PM-LX is a separate PCI-104 reference. Do not copy BIOS, dimensions or expansion data across columns. The combined PDF lists the standard R10 ordering code; the separate OEM ordering page also identifies 800W and its temperature range.

Before accepting a candidate

Replacement review starts with the application

A shared LX800 processor, a similar footprint or a seller's replacement label is not sufficient evidence of interchangeability.

Board and expansion stack

Record the full MPN, PCB revision, installed PC/104 cards, connector positions, stack clearance and supply wiring. Compare the exact bus, mechanical drawing and pin assignments of any candidate.

Boot and application

Record BIOS identity/settings, boot medium, RAM, operating system and drivers, display connection and serial devices. Agree how the existing application will be tested before accepting a different identity.

Changes and acceptance

State whether re-imaging, software changes, rewiring or mechanical changes are acceptable. Separate an exact replacement request from a planned migration. Technical acceptance requires application evidence and an agreed review scope.

Buying checklist for an actual offered board

  1. Identity: request legible photos of the actual board, ordering label and revision. Generic catalog images do not identify the offered unit.
  2. Condition: ask whether it is unused surplus, used, repaired or refurbished, and what evidence supports that description.
  3. Test scope: request dated evidence of the agreed boot, memory, display, network and relevant port checks. A power-on photo alone does not prove application readiness.
  4. Contents: list the board, heatsink, RAM, CF/boot media and cable harnesses included or excluded. The OEM packing list is not an offer-specific bill of contents.
  5. Terms: obtain written quantity, currency/price, lead-time basis, delivery assumptions, warranty provider/scope, return conditions and validity for the exact option.

Prepare a useful request

Send one full ordering code, quantity, accepted condition, delivery country and required date. Under Add optional details, include the installed revision, machine/application, temperature requirement and whether only the same model is acceptable. Keep device data and unrelated commercial documents private. The form accepts text; uploads remain unavailable.
